Ganesh festival: Anant Chaturdashi, last day of the Hindu festival of Lord Ganesh
It marks the end of 10 day long public festival initiated by Indian Freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak in 1893 with an intention to bring together the communities and generate nationalistic fervor among people. In Pune the festival is celebrated in a big way and a well organised procession is taken out on this last day to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesh in rivers or any water bodies.... |
